Top Sensory Toys For Sensory Processing: Preschool Edition

As a  mother of a son with sensory processing and a mother of a preschooler I am constantly looking for toys, games, puzzles and gadgets that will both meet my sons needs and keep him occupied.  I mean who isn’t???
Like every other mother here I also struggle with my son loosing interest in toys, and getting bored.  And then I have wasted money- which makes me mad. I can tell you we have spent a lot of money on toys that we “thought” would be amazing and have ended up sitting in a bin never having been used.  But we have found some great toys that provide him both stimuli and engagement.

Dinner In A Dash: Cauliflower Mash and Sage Meatballs

Time is of the essence.  And low carb is the name of the game tonight.
Recently I have started eating much fewer carbs and really packing in more protein and fats.  My husband, however, loves a rich and hardy pasta dish.  So we were at a cross roads.  I wanted low carb and he wanted flavorful.  Up until recently, I think those two were hard to find in one meal but with the recent changes in the food industry and so many people wanting healthier alternatives we are able to meet both requests.
This meal was cooked in just under 30 mins because… #momlife.  It’s easy, yummy and super healthy.

What I Wish Others Knew About My Son’s Sensory Processing Disorder

My son has sensory processing disorder.
He is curious, he is thoughtful, he is kind, he is inquisitive, he is mischievous.  And he has sensory processing disorder.

To be honest I wish is wasn’t called a disorder as I rarely, if ever, think of Declan has having a “disorder”.  And I wish there was more social knowledge about children with SPD (sensory processing disorder).   The fact is that sensory processing disorder is a controversial topic and so we are still learning a lot about how it effects children and the best strategies to support them.

Five Podcasts I’m Listening to Right Now

Happy Friday!  Can you believe how far into the year we are?!?  Like WOW.  One of the the goals I set for myself this year was to explore and listen to more podcasts.  So I wanted to share my Top 5.
    SOME BACKGROUND
I was VERY late to the podcast scene.  Like just started listening to them in November.  For some reason the idea of podcasts seemed weird to me… I didn’t understand when people listened to them, why didn’t they just find a show to watch or read a book, what was the big hype about them all??  So many questions and when I am overwhelmed I shy away from things #workingonthat.  So it took me a long long time to start exploring podcasts and figure out which ones I liked.  As of today I have found dozens I love but there are certainly a hand full that I listen to daily/weekly.

One Shirt Three Ways + Target Gift Card Giveaway

I am so excited to share this post!!!  For one I am actually in L O V E with this utility shirt and second I am hosting a great G I V E A W A Y.  The idea here is to showcase how easy it is to take one key piece and make several different types of outfits.  Let’s be serious… I am not made of money but I love different outfits.  So I am working on being more selective of what I purchase and making sure everything I buy can be worn in several different ways.

    Spring Style: Boyfriend Jeans

This spring I am embracing and loving boyfriend jeans.  And girlfriend jeans.  The looser fit is really catching my eye and I am loving how versatile and easy they are to style .  While I am not ready to donate all of my skinny jeans I am ready to embrace a looser fit.  Not sure if it is the old age or winter crock pots but the boyfriend fit is happening!
