Silencing That Voice of Doubt

SHHHHH…..
BE QUIET!

Can you hear it?  That voice in your head that is constantly doubting you, that is constantly belittling you… that voice that is telling you to stop, or to give up…. that voice that is filled with negative comments and riddled with complete and utter self doubt?????  Well…..

STOP LISTENING.

Instead let’s listen to that voice that tells you how beautiful you.  The voice that compliments your amazing wardrobe.  The voice that encourages you to wear what makes you feel great.. and for me that is NEUTRALS!  I love them.  Neutrals are essentially the only “color” in my wardrobe, especially here in London.  I find that wearing neutrals makes it easy to get dressed in the morning. Neutrals go with everything (that’s the definition of neutral) and they are perfect for any outing.

This neutral easy to wear sweater is likely one my favorites of the season (I also have it in red).  I wear it weekly- coffee dates, school runs, errands, and weekend family outings.   This beauty is perfectly complimented with dark denim and cute ankle bootie.  These denim jeans are by far my favorite and I have had them for a few years now.  They fit great and truly a timeless purchase.  I went with black bootie today <sale  alert; these are majorly marked down> but, obviously, any color would be a perfect fit.  Black booties are a must have for the end of fall and certainly for the upcoming winter.  Throw a scarf over top, add a chunky statement necklace or just wear this neutral sweater alone… but wear it.  Stop listening to that voice telling you to change. Silence that voice that doubts your choices.

We all have that voice… sometimes it actually mimics a person from your past which mine did but it is time to be silenced.  For years I lived with a very loud obtuse voice of doubt. In some regards I may have been living with it for most of my life and while I may never know where it came from, how it got so loud or why it took over- I am tired of listening to it.  I am tired of letting it speak for me.  I want to make my own choices.  For the past several years I have been working on silencing the voice and it has been a challenging processes but one I am proud of and willing to share with you.  To change my outcome from always questioning to feeling confident and assured has been a daily task; one I have worked hard to achieve; one I take pride in.  I hope you feel inspired to silence your own voice of doubt. You are fooling yourself if you say you do not have one… yours may be more background noise or it may be present in the foreground but regardless stop listening.  You are beautiful.  You are kind.  You are special.  Believe it.

This shoot was one of my favorites to date.  Not only did I love the outfit <sweater><denim><booties><bag> but I so love Victoria, my photographer. We, finally, had a chance to sit down and talk! She is absolutely the sweetest person I have meet and has such a positive outlook on life.  Certainly makes shooting with her easy. She is a positive light and an excellent reminder to keep that voice silenced.

Favorite Neutrals for Fall

Here are a few of my other favorite neutral sweaters and denim.  A few different style sweaters but all meeting the neutral criteria and certainly easy to wear.

And since I have drank the truth serum (this whole blog is a big reveling of all my secrets)… the voice is still there… mumbling in the background- only now I can not hear what it is saying. Part of learning to silence the voice was to learn to embrace my flaws… to learn to cherish my quirks and to acknowledge my areas for improvement.. I never want to be complacent- I always want to be better.  Not because the voice is filling me with doubt but because I WANT more… because I choose that.

With Love,

ajm
