Fearless Award: A Little About Me

    Fearless Award

So recently I was nominated for a blogger award by Alyssa from Teddy Bears and Lipsticks!!  I was so honored and totally caught off guard.  This award is really an opportunity to share a bit more about myself and what my blog is about.  In this blogging business we are constantly being measured up against each other and these types of #shoutouts really remind us how much support and collaboration is happening.  Part of my goal with Pish to Posh is help others feel fabulous and so at the end of this post I have nominated 5 other bloggers that are worth you taking taking a look at!!  Thank you Alyssa for this award!

    Fearless Award Questions:

    Who are you?!

HI!!! I am Amanda.  I am a wife, a mother, a lover of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, a sister and a friend.  I am a Colorado native but have lived all over the world including Berlin and most recently, London.  My dog is my best friend and confidant and I love macaroni and cheese.  There are few things in life I like more than lazy weekends spent with my husband and son.

What is your blog/instagram all about?

Well….it is lifestyle, motherhood, fashion and a bit of humor. I love to write about my life and the way my mind works- I try to see the bigger picture in life and my hope is to inspire others to live their true authentic life.  I love fashion and clothes but I love my son and my family even more. I write about being a mother but not how to be a mother.  Sometimes I write about other bloggers and sometimes I write about my travels and adventures.  My Instagram is my life captured in little squares put out into the world in hopes of inspiring someone to smile, to laugh, to reflect or to connect.

What do you LOVE about blogging/instagramming?

Freedom of expression.  I love being able to share my world with others. I love connecting with like-minded ladies and I love meeting creative souls who challenge and inspire me.  I love being able to share a snipet of my life but still keep some things close to my heart. I love being able to express myself in a manner that is true and authentic to who I am and who I want be.

What do you not love most about blogging/instagramming?

Such a loaded question!!!  I put a lot of pressure on myself to grow, to engage and to be better.  I do not love those feelings as they can be overwhelming and consuming.  I hate the feeling of wonder when I publish a post (either on the blog or on Instaram) as to whether it will be received positively.  And sometimes I loath Instagram because just when I start to figure it out I realize I have no idea what I am doing #beingtotallyhonest

What are your goals (big & small!) for your blog/instagram?

To start the goal was to create a platform where I could showcase the person I knew myself to be.  As this journey has continued I want to inspire people. I want to connect with people and I want to provide an opportunity for people to feel connected.  One of my goals is to never loose my passion and to remember why I started this.  My goals, for both IG and the blog, are to remain authentic and grounded- be true to myself.

If you could be better at one thing, what would it be?

In general life it would be flexibility.  I am person who craves structure and routine.  I am working, everyday, to be more flexible.

In the blogging/Instagram world it would be photos.  Both taking them and editing them. I would love to be more creative and artistic when I am behind the camera.

Who are your biggest supporters? How/why?

First and foremost my husband.  He has to endure endless hours of chatter about hashtags, outfit choices, Instagram content, photo shoots and blog content.  Next is my mother who reads every single post I write.  My best friend has been an incredible supporter by initially encouraging me to start the blog and for continuing to push me when I want to quit.

What do you wish there was more of in your life

Tricky question… should I could go emotional and deep or go real and witty….

I wish there was one more chance to say goodbye to my grandmother.

    Reflections 2016

So… its almost 2017… Yep I said it; accepting it is a different statement.  It is time to do some reflecting on this past year.

I am not a resolution girl.

My life is constantly changing and therefore to meet that demand I need to be constantly changing and evolving and I find reflecting is the best way to roll through life. Resolutions seem so finite.

This year I have a lot to reflect on however two main theme keeps showing up.  The idea of living my life based on what I want and not out of fear.  And how important it is to find gratitude in every aspect of life.  Over the last year I have spent a lot of conscious energy learning to be grateful and to show gratitude for all I have.  I am lucky enough to live in London, if only for a few more weeks- and I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for this opportunity.  Launching Pish to Posh was a step away from living in fear- I was ready to be myself.

This was a fun outfit to put together… I was tired of sweaters…I was tired of gray (just for the day) and I wanted something a bit holiday but not too over the top.  Speaking of tops- lets talk about this top! Zara never fails me and this embroidered piece was another score.  The pop of color is just enough and I love the detail of the flowers.  I, obviously, love these patchwork denim as you have seen them in several of the previous posts <here><here> but they just seem to pair, so well, with everything.  Casual tops, dressy tops, sweaters, sweatshirts- everything.  I had originally styled this with black heels but when the day came to shoot it was pouring rain. In fact, all of these photos were, literally, taken in a constant drizzle- ugh London.  I opted for a more water friendly shoe and I am ever grateful I did.  These booties are so easy to wear both for casual looks or for a more dressy appearance.

    gratitude

Traveling around Europe, England and London has been my way showing the gratitude I feel.  Ensuring I live in the moment and take the opportunities right in front of me  is the best way I know to actively demonstrate how lucky and grateful I am.  Exploring what the world offers is how I capture the sense of gratitude in my everyday.  Giving Declan the ability to experience new cultures, new sights, new sounds helps him to develop a sense of gratitude at an early age.

    Live Without Fear

While my mom was here in London there was great discussions about breaking away from the fear of not doing things. Whether it be the clothes you are wearing, trying new food, exploring a new city or even reading a different genera book. And the conclusion was overwhelming in the direction of how important it is to not let fear guide my life.  I launched Pish to Posh under this premise.  I was tired of living in fear of what others may think or how others may have perceived me. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! In fact, I feel a sense of weight lifted- carrying around fear is an awful heavy burden.

As I look forward  to 2017 I am excited about the opportunity to continue being grateful and living without fear.  I also know that the next 365 will bring new occasions to reflect on my life and to embrace change.

What are you reflections from 2016???

    With Love,

I have included several similar items in the widget below for both the embroidered top and the jacket as they are not available through this directory.  Happy Shopping!

    Giving Thanks: A Quick List

So… I struggled with this post NOT because I am not thankful or that I do not have so many things to be thankful for but because I am not sure simple words can express just how thankful I am this year.

    In a Nutshell:

I am ever thankful for Brendan.  Declan is the most precious gift I could have and everyday I am thankful I get to raise this little human  My parents- duh! My in-laws (parents and sisters).  My family in Colorado. My friends.  Living in London.  Getting to write a blog and share my life with you.

The lighter side of this post is obviously this adorable outfit… I am also very thankful for comfy, cute clothes! New amazing denim alert… another great find from H & M!  The distressed and patched nature of these add just enough flare but keep them pretty neutral.  I am thankful for J.Crew.  And even more for this tuxedo inspired top. You needed this in your closet yesterday but now you can get it here and use code ‘FESTIVE’ at checkout.  Alright friends, it is winter in London and therefore I have not left the house without this essential faux fur hooded jacket in days.  Seriously, it is not only adorable but it is warm. I have linked several others <here> and <here> so you have options. As the holidays are sneaking up (see my perfect holiday dress here) I can not recommend this tote enough… it is perfect for everyday and it literally accompanies me almost everywhere.  Booties are a season old but I have included several of my other favorites <here> and <here>.

As I reflect on what I am truly the most thankful for I am left with a list of people.  There are so many people who continuously inspire me, who continue to push me, who love me, who support me, who make me tear up with laughter and who make me forever thankful.  The reality is that I am so incredibly lucky to live the life I do.  To spend my days exploring London, writing and styling Pish to Posh, traveling with my family and connecting with people is truly a gift I cherish everyday.

    The List:

My husband- without hesitation- is the most influential person in my life and I am absolutely indebted to his love.  Thank you  Brendan.

My son has thrived in London.  He has developed a British accent and I quickly went from “mama” to “mummy” and I could not be more thankful.  He loves his life here,  he is happy, he is inquisitive, he is curious and he is funny.  Thank you Declan.

The two who gave me life are simply unbelievable.  The endless support- all the way from Denver- the endless love and the endless humor they provide in my life is un-matchable.  Thank you Mom and Daddy.

Marriage is about the joining of two families… I am lucky to have the most amazing family gifted to me through marriage.  They are honest, opinionated, trustworthy, loving and humorous.  Thank you Maxwell’s.

Not only do I have great in-laws but I also have the best family in Denver.  They keep me grounded, they love my dog, they help me with all things computer and they simply adore my son.  Thank you Fry’s.

A friendship that withstood college, children and a move across the world is almost unheard of but I am lucky enough to have it.  Thank you April.

There is certainly no way to express or to include every single person who I am thankful for- that would be the longest post ever as I truly have so many to thank.

This Thanksgiving I hope you find yourself surrounded by people who inspire you, support you, love you and make you happy.  This year Thanksgiving will be a small affair with one great friend joining us (British do not celebrate… I mean…..).  We will raise a glass in cheers for all that we are thankful for….

Thank you for stopping by and reading… thank you for indulging me in my endeavor! Forever grateful.

    With Love and Thanks,

    ajm
